They drown you until you’re not sure who you are.

Emotions are genuinely awful. They are the enemy!

If only you could give them back, or better yet, get a refund!

You’ve had enough of them.

You stop breathing to stuff them away.

Pretending is your way of making everything seem okay.

Making promises to yourself and others is one strategy, but you won’t do or say that again.

You ignore every emotion that veers from fine. And just as you get so good at avoiding what you feel, those emotions become even stronger and scarier again.

Why do you have to go through this again and again? Why do you have to be in these endless waves of sadness, anger, fear, and frustration?

What if you aren’t the wave, but you are the surfer you never knew was there?
