“The place of true healing is a fierce place. It’s a giant place.
It’s a place of monstrous beauty and endless dark and glimmering light.
And you have to work really, really, really hard to get there, but you can do it.”
– Cheryl Strayed (Brave Enough)
You have the right to feel heard and understood.
In our first session, you will walk into a warm, cozy house that lets you feel completely and unconditionally open to what you need to say.
There’s a kind, receptive person ready to hear about you – your past experiences, current relationships, what you feel in your body and breath, and desires for your health and future.
The conversation unfolds naturally and easily. Time expands, and you can breathe big breaths while you share why you have come.
Ask yourself this. Do you have a nonjudgmental space to express your body, mind, and breath – a compassionate space to describe your deepest fears, strongest desires, and most pressing questions?
Healing and being heard begin by taking the first step.
From the first session, you will be greeted with a warm drink, a cozy blanket, and a room waiting for your voice and heart to know that someone is listening to your words. I will get complete detail of your body and mind health history. My yoga practice and training have taught me to open my heart to hear what you need and support your aspirations.
I will guide you through several poses and a few minutes of breathwork in this first meeting. Both of these will address what you have told me about your history and your reasons for coming. This session will affirm that you feel heard!
That is the first step of healing. And this first session will be the foundation of our work to come.
You have the right to feel seen.
After the first session, there will be three follow-up sessions where we will see your physical and mental wounds. Your pain needs acknowledgment and a witness who deeply cares for you and is not attached to any outcomes other than achieving your goals.
The first step to transforming pain is allowing someone else to see it. In these three follow-up sessions, we will do less talking. You cannot heal the mind with the mind. The body and breath are the keys.
We will do postures that are suitable and tailored to you. Physical postures will lead us to breathwork.
Every session, you will feel more and more trust building – trust in the methods of yoga and breathwork, trust in me, and most importantly, trust in yourself.
You have the right to your feelings.
Emotions are scary, confusing, and challenging. Most of us have not learned how to openly receive and listen to our sadness, anger, and fear. You have stuffed them away, discounted them, and denied them to breathe.
After seeing your wounds in our beginning sessions, we will take our sessions to your feelings. These are the effects of your wounds, and you will learn to trust your feelings, too!
You will soften your emotions, see them as a superpower, and shift your perspective. They allow you to know yourself and the world more clearly. Imagine, instead of your emotions being your enemy; they are your most vital asset!
You will learn tools to acknowledge your feelings and hear the valid message they want. Then, we will allow the emotion to move through the body through the breath. These following sessions have us diving deeper into breathwork. Breathwork practice makes you feel powerful. You will know emotions are your best friends rather than foe.
You have the right to be here!
Through time and effort in our sessions, you will build a foundation of peace – a knowing that you are here for a reason and belong here!
This foundation will establish a strong mind and body connection that can weather any circumstance!
You have the right to love and feel loved in return.
Ultimately, as we build our relationship in sessions and you build your yoga practice and breathwork, you will love yourself! You will open to love! You can build strong, nurturing relationships with your family, friends, and partner.
You have the right to shine!
You are a beautiful person. I know this to be true in my heart. With our work, you will be able to understand this for yourself. You will affirm your beautiful mind and body, inside and out.
You will be confident, humble, gracious, and free to show yourself to the world.
Yoga and breathwork establish these necessary rights in a holistic and lasting way. With our work, you will know these rights in your bones and understand them in the very essence of your breath.
This knowledge will transform your mind and your future!
As Thich Nhat Hanh said, “Every step taken in mindfulness brings us one step closer to healing ourselves and the planet.”
Hi Beautiful Person, I’m Holli
My career resulted from a personal experience with yoga.
I have been in and out of therapy since I was eight. I’ve needed a lot of healing from my past and tried many methods. The best way, by far, has been body-based therapy.
I started yoga in 2005. It helped me manage the stress of college and graduate school. Then in Austin, after graduating with an MFA in creative writing, I trained as a yoga teacher. I did yoga therapy to unravel PTSD and trauma in my body and mind.
This experience led me to train in yoga therapy and more profound yoga studies worldwide. In Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, I opened a yoga studio and managed and ran regular classes alongside teacher training and individual yoga therapy there.
During that time in Hobart, I also found a breathwork counselor for continuing my healing work. The work has been so powerful I recently trained with my mentor one-to-one to become a certified breathwork counselor and now integrate breathwork counseling into my therapy practice.
Yoga and breathwork have made me a confident, responsible person with a family and career I love!
Most days, I almost can’t believe it.
I’m passionate about sharing body-based therapy, both theory and practice. Today, alongside my yoga therapy practice in Eureka, California, I still run the yoga school based out of Hobart. Providing yoga education and holistic self-care to others and myself is vital to my fulfillment, and I thank my lucky stars I found it!
I’m a nerd for theatre and cinema and have written plays and poems. Creative writing is my biggest hobby, and indulging in riveting drama series is my greatest guilty pleasure.
My partner is a wildlife biologist, so our family pastimes include hiking, camping, and being in nature.
My two girls adore wild animals and spaghetti! Having two young ones for us has meant only committing to low-maintenance pets, so we currently have three chicks: Thelma, Laverne, and Shirley.
